Layering for Details

The art of layering is to prepare yourself for different conditions that you will experience during the day. Each element of your outfit should fit the one purpose of making you look good this winter. Details are king in my book. It could be the ruffled shoulders of cardigan or the strip of colour inside my coat. Texture and eye catching pieces make even the most basic of outfits full of splendour.

  1. The cold exterior, can change from morning, to late afternoon. A good jacket to protect yourself from the elements is the best way to fight off the cold. The jacket can be used for solid purpose to protect you from the rain and snow but does not mean you will  have to sacrifice necessity for your style.
  2. Wear your best structured coast and substitute it for a raincoat. This will help you reduce the bulk and keep the style. The umbrella is an accessory. This can feature your fun or serious personality, polka dots, sunshine yellow or navy. Anything goes, especially when standing in a crowd.
  3. The choice of cardigan or polo neck piece is probably the item that you will wear all day. So make it good. You can wear it in a complementary bright colour or keep it in the same palette played out in texture.
  4. In any occasion where you are not sure whether the meeting room or conference is going to be piping hot. Wear a top that is flattering or simple that matches your pants and shoes. You are having a mini summer. So enjoy it by wearing something loose and breathable. As it is the item of clothing that is close to your skin, underneath all the layers.
In this Jacker series, I layered the jacket with complementary greys, whites and blacks. The details in the long black and white cardigan give it a put together look. This cardigan always reminds me of a Chanel jacket. It is always great to have, as it always make a simple look, seam more sophisticated. Then I finished with a textured grey tone top that screamed glam rock and love it so much cause it has a very simple detail that adds  movement and personality to the look. On a very cold day, I could just wear a cardigan over the top and know that if the next venue or meeting lace is hot and crowded. I will at least be looking spicy hot. It is all in the details.
