70's Inspired Winter Knitwear

But it was the coldest winter I can ever remember when I landed in Belgium with all my belongings from South Africa. I had been away from my beloved for 3 months, had to pack and sell both our lives away with the help of my sister. I had left in the peek of December summer to land in a bloody cold country. What was I thinking. I should have turned around at that very moment. Passionately kiss my beloved (then boyfriend), and lightly profess
"Nope, No thank you. I've changed my mind. See you later buddy"
Instead I just cried when I saw my bed-warmer, exhausted and exhilarated that the lonely move was over and my wish to be in Belgium finally came true.
Did I mention its cold. I am a child of the South so Im happiest in warmer weather. But one can not deny the enchantment of snow. Its Autumn in Brussels and its magical. I am fortunate enough to live near a forest and watch the leaves change in to their winter colours. It is whimsical. Gearing for the cold is a sore pursuit. I love to dress up when I go to friends' dinners and dining out for a restaurant. I can be feeling all fabulous and sexy... but no one is going to see my outfit. I have so many layers on, I could open a boutique in the water closet. For the winter of 2015, I am going for a minimimalist winter wear, meaning, spending a little more time looking for quality pieces that do the job right. And what job is that? Keeping me warm!
Cashmere, wools, mix wools, silks and cottons and hugs. Did I miss something? Here are some knitwear inspirations straight from my closet. The basics of the "bare" necessities. Im ready for you Winter.
